Germany Car Market and Car Sites
A huge number of used Volkswagen, Audi, and other brands of cars change their residence from German to Ukrainian. The question of buying a car from Germany interests almost every driver today. But immediately a number of issues arise, such as: is it possible to save money? What condition will the car be in and whom to contact for a successful purchase?
When a potential buyer has already decided to buy a car in Germany, he has three choices:
— contact car dealer and buy a new car;
— purchase a used car from a reseller;
— find a car in private ads.
Buying a car in a car dealership without any risks
German car dealerships are pleased to offer high-quality, new models from the factory. But the equipment will be minimal. About 99% of German cars return to the factory again in order to improve them according to customer preferences. It can take from one to six months, while a car dealership will take an additional fee for such work. But only a few potential buyers are ready to wait for such a period. Using the services of a distributor, you can place your order online. In this case, the buyer installs an application on his smartphone, sets the desired configuration, and sends the order to the distributor, who contacts the manufacturer. The car factory will inform about the readiness of the car and the deadline for payment, and after registering with the Zulassungsstelle department, the motorist can get car license plates and pick up his vehicle. Interestingly, when making a purchase, you can save significantly if you pay the full amount immediately in cash. You can get a discount of up to 10%.
Should you use the services of resellers?
After looking at the statistics, at least, you will be surprised. A new car loses about 40% in price after three years of operation. That’s why the acquisition of a new car is an expensive pleasure. The best option is to buy a used vehicle from a reseller. Handlers take cars from owners for sale and when reselling, they undertake to make repairs under warranty if the breakdown occurs not through the fault of the new owner.
In Germany, there are two types of handler warranties:
- Warranty policy. Legally, a handler must provide a 2-year guarantee to the buyer. Under these conditions, the year of manufacture of the car, mileage and some other characteristics are taken into account.
- Warranty, which is determined by the entrepreneur independently. In this way, it is possible to attract many customers by providing a good guarantee, which includes the validity period and the size of the payment by the handler.
Of course, the contract may contain ambiguous phrases to avoid the guarantee fee. But anyway, the buyer has a guarantee for 2 years.
Buying from a private person at an affordable price
If you want to buy a car as profitable as possible, then you should contact private traders. Look for ads on the Internet. Having decided on an option, contact the seller and inspect the car to assess its real condition. The sales contract is signed when buying a car. Keep in mind that the first 6 months after acquiring a vehicle, it is the seller who is responsible for the car. For example, if the seller deceived or did not notify the buyer about some nuances, the buyer can still return the car within six months and get the money spent.
Large car markets in Germany
Most of the resellers and some owners represent their cars in German car markets, which number about two dozen in the country. Essen’s car market is the largest in Europe. There are thousands of cars for all tastes. It is also worth visiting such venues as Siemens Technopark and Interspar Neukolln (Berlin), Wertkauf and Roland-Center (Bremen), Autokino Frankfurt-Gravenbruch (Frankfurt am Main), Grossmarkt and Continent-Markt (Hamburg), Parkplatz Hagen AG (Kassel) and others.

Price comparison
To answer the question “How profitable is it to buy a car in Germany?”, we need to compare it with the purchase of a similar customs-cleared car in Ukraine. So, taking into account all the costs in Germany for customs clearance and delivery of a WV Golf car (3-year-old, 1.8 gasoline, mileage – 100 thousand kilometers), the difference will be like this: Ukraine – about 14-15 thousand euros, Germany – about 7-8 thousand euros. One more example: Mercedes-Benz C 200 (diesel, mileage – 200 thousand kilometers). The price is 17-21 thousand euros in Ukraine, while in Germany – 9-11 thousand euros.
In any case, deciding to buy a car from Germany, add the cost of state fees, number plates, insurance policy, transit declaration, customs procedures, pension contributions, and other fees to the final cost. Plus the costs of your accommodation and meals in Germany. In most cases, the total cost of a German car will still be lower than buying the same car with customs clearance in Ukraine. This is a cost-effective option that will allow you to enjoy your purchase for many years without any complaints. Given the quality of German roads and the attitude of the Germans to their cars, you will not have large expenses on car repairs after the purchase.
